SCSSD is fully funded by:

Community Programs

Public Safety

SCSSD is actively engaged in efforts to improve public safety.  Here are some examples:

Emergency Kit Distribution

In September 2008, SCSSD offered a free Emergency Preparedness Starter Kit to every SCSSD household. SCSSD funded this $150,000 effort in hopes that every SCSSD family becomes better prepared for an emergency that might necessitate shelter-in-place or evacuation. SCSSD has since distributed 4,200 kits.

Evacuation Planning

SCSSD works with the City of Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management on evacuation planning. In 2007, the City convened stakeholder working groups that met weekly, identifying evacuation zones and routes for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, mass transit, and private vehicles. A unique tactical evacuation plan was also developed specifically for the Sports Complex area. SCSSD is a proud participant in these ongoing efforts.

Ready Notify PA Community Alert System

SCSSD encourages every resident to sign up for the Ready Notify PA Community Alert System offered by the City of Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management. This system sends emergency e-mail or text messages to your cell phone or other e-mail enabled devices.

Sunoco Community Advisory Panel

In May 2007, SCSSD was approved as a new member of the Sunoco South/Southwest Community Advisory Panel (CAP). CAPs serve as a way to improve dialogue between plants and local community leaders through regular meetings that allow leaders to share their concerns and ask questions of plant management. SCSSD actively participates in the monthly meetings along with 18 other member organizations.
